De Muijnk, Johnson represent Rio on All-RSC teams

MIDDLETOWN, Ohio - The University of Rio Grande placed a pair of players on the 2022 All-River States Conference Women's Soccer Team.
The squad, which was selected through the balloting of the league's 11 head coaches, was announced by conference officials prior to the championship game of the RSC Tournament.
Representing the RedStorm on the Second Team was freshman midfielder Jitske De Muijnk (Nijmegen, The Netherlands), while graduate senior midfielder Cloe Johnson (Valencia, Spain) was an Honorable Mention selection.
The duo helped head coach Tony Daniels' team, which was seeded sixth in the six-team tourney, reach the title game.
The first, second and honorable mention teams all included 14 players - four forwards, four midfielders, four defenders and two goalkeepers.
Indiana University Kokomo forward Keely Hoopingarner led the honorees as both the Player of the Year and the Offensive Player of the Year.
IUK also had the Newcomer of Year in goalkeeper Kailee Moore, while Point Park University's Athena Beck was tabbed Defensive Player of the Year.
Joining Hoopingarner, Beck and Moore on the First Team were forwards Holly Pascoe of Point Park, Shelby O'Leary from Indiana East and Brescia's Maci Uffleman; midfielders Morgan Scruggs of IU Kokomo, Claudia Melgar from Oakland City and the Point Park duo of Elisa Ferrer and Mireya Rojas; defenders Maddie Myers from Oakland City, Karlie Kellett of IU Kokomo and Point Park's Gillianne Stewardson; and goalkeeper Kassidy Elkin of Oakland City.
Along with De Muinjk, the second team was comprised of forwards Maggie Sauer of Midway, Haley Huber from Carlow, IU East's Tori Martino and Chanell Britten of Point Park; midfielders Kaiya Bogers of IU Kokomo, Alana Doherty from Oakland City and IU Kokomo's Kelsi Hoot; defenders Madison Ward of Oakland City, Alina Bigec of Point Park and the IU East duo of Ava Wittrock and Kaiah Haberkorn; and goalkeepers Ella Serlin of Point Park and Sandra Garcia from WVU-Tech.
Point Park first-year head coach Kelly Raddar named Coach of the Year.
The RSC also named a Champions of Character Team, featuring one team member nominated by their head coach for best displaying the NAIA Champions of Character traits of respect, responsibility, integrity, servant leadership and sportsmanship.
Rio's representative on the list was Johnson.
The RSC Scholar-Athlete Team honored those with a 3.25 GPA or higher who play women's soccer and have been at their current institution for at least two semesters.
The RedStorm were represented on the list by sophomore Alexis Cox (Chillicothe, OH), Bree Large (Mount Orab, OH) and Charlotte Pilgram (Middlesbrough, England), Tegan Suree (Coventry, England) and Abigail Seals (Chillicothe, OH); juniors Delaney Purtee (Wheelersburg, OH) and Sophie Adams (Manchester, England); and seniors Trinity Hassey (Westerville, OH) and Rachelle Wolford (Marysville, OH).
