Rio baseball duo honored by RSC

OXFORD, Ohio - Gehrig Cordial and Jacob Napier from the University of Rio Grande have been named the River States Conference Baseball Player and Pitcher of the Week, respectively.
The awards were announced by league officials on Monday.
Cordial, a sophomore from South Charleston, Ohio, hit safely in all four of the RedStorm's games last week, leading to a dominant series sweep over Voorhees (SC) University.
Cordial logged five hits, including a pair of doubles, and accounted for 13 Rio Grande runs - scoring seven and driving in six. He was also a force on the basepaths, stealing five bags.
Napier, a junior from Alexandria, Ky., picked up the win in game two of the series.
He tossed five standout innings in a 13-2 victory, allowing just one unearned run on three hits and striking out 10 hitters across his five innings of work.
