Rio's Kendall named Pitcher of the Week

MIDDLETOWN, Ohio - University of Rio Grande senior Zach Kendall and Asbury (Ky.) University junior Walker Paris won River States Conference Baseball Pitcher & Player of the Week honors for their efforts April 5-11.

Kendall, from Troy, Ohio, threw a complete game in an 11-1 victory over Brescia (Ky.). The game lasted eight innings with Kendall going the whole way to get his sixth win, tied for the RSC lead. He struck out 11, walked none and gave up only three hits.
Kendall leads the RSC in opponent batting average (.207) and hits allowed per game (6.59).
Paris, an infielder from Mt. Vernon, Ind., batted .444 (8-for-18) with four homers and 12 RBIs in five games on the week. Asbury went 4-1 in those games, including a weekend sweep of Ohio Christian in RSC action.
Paris scored 11 runs, walked three times and also added a double. The 12 RBI puts him No. 1 in the NAIA with 64 on the year.
