Wildcats roll RedStorm in Top 10 showdown

     MARION, Ind. - Second-ranked Indiana Wesleyan University outscored visiting No. 10 University of Rio Grande in all four quarters and went on to a 101-77 win over the RedStorm, Tuesday night, in non-conference women's basketball action at Luckey Arena.
     The Wildcats improved to 10-0 with the victory.
     The loss was the first for Rio Grande in seven outings.
     The RedStorm trailed just 15-12 after a layup by senior Kaylee Darnell (Wheelersburg, OH) with 3:12 left in the opening quarter, but watched as IWU stretched its advantage to eight points by the close of the period and to 18 points by the intermission.
     Freshman Jasmine Jordan (Ashland, KY) hit one of two free throw attempts with just over two minutes left in the third quarter to get Rio within 14 points, 64-50, but head coach David Smalley's club got no closer the rest of the way.
     The Wildcats' largest lead of the contest was 28 points, 96-68, following a three-pointer by Chloey Graham with 1:46 remaining.
     Lilli Frasure was a one-woman wrecking crew for IWU, finishing with 37 points, nine rebounds, seven assists and a pair of steals. She finished 16-for-23 overall and 5-for-5 at the foul line.
     Taylor Folkema added 19 points, six rebounds and a pair of blocked shots to the winning effort, while Jade Nutley tallied eight points, 12 rebounds and two blocked shots of her own.
     The Wildcats shot 55.6 percent overall (40-for-72) and 81 percent from the foul line (13-for-16), while also owning a commanding 50-26 edge in rebounding.
     Rio Grande shot just 38 percent overall (28-for-73), including 2-for-12 from distance (16.7%), and 63 percent from the charity stripe (19-for-30).
     Darnell led the RedStorm with 29 points, while Jordan had 14 points, 11 rebounds and three steals.
     Senior Marina Garcia Perez (Leon, Spain) added seven assists in a losing cause.
     Rio Grande returns to action on Friday, Dec. 6, at the University of Cincinnati-Clermont. Tipoff is set for 5:30 p.m.
