Robertson, Hundley named 2nd Team All-RSC

MIDDLETOWN, Ohio - Trey Robertson and Trent Hundley from the University of Rio Grande have been named to the 2023-24 All-River States Conference Men's Basketball Second Team.
League officials announced the all-conference teams and individual award winners on Monday.
The All-RSC Teams were voted on by the league's head coaches. The All-RSC First, Second & Third teams included 10 players each. Also named were the RSC Men's Basketball Champions of Character and Scholar-Athlete teams.
Robertson, a sophomore from Waverly, Ohio, was the only Rio player to start in each of the team's 29 games. He ranked second on the team in scoring (16.4 ppg), led the squad in assists (3.3 apg) and tied for the team lead in steals (30).
Robertson shot just under 49 percent overall (175-for-360), led the team in three-point goals and three-point percentage (59-for-146, 40.4%) and shot a club-best 83.5 percent at the foul line (66-for-79).
Hundley, a sophomore from Mount Orab, Ohio, led the RedStorm (12-17, 6-11 RSC) in scoring at 16.6 points per game. He also averaged 4.1 rebounds and 1.3 assists per game.
Hundley shot 45.3 percent overall and tied for second on the team with 40 made three-pointers.
Cobie Barnes from St. Mary-of-the-Woods (Ind.) College headlined the All_RSC First Team after being named the RSC Player of the Year and RSC Newcomer of the Year.
Barnes, a senior guard from Floyds Knob, Ind. and a transfer from SIU-Edwardsville, ranks second in the conference at 23.1 points per game.
Joining Barnes on the First Team was Jo Valrie and Jalen Stamps of Point Park University; Indiana University Southeast's Jocobi Hendricks; Shawnee State University's Chaze Harris and Keith Germain; Levi Seiler of Ohio Christian University; IU Kokomo's Max Newman; Colt Meyer of Indiana University East; and WVU-Tech's Braden Chapman.
In addition to Robertson and Hundley, the Second Team included Shon Tupuola from St. Mary-of-the-Woods; WVU-Tech's Andrew Work and Ashton Parker; Lane Lauderbaugh of IU Southeast; Brescia University's Taeron Hogg; Jalen Cincore from Midway University; IU East's Ibra Athie; and Jared Strickland of Alice Lloyd College.
The Third Team was comprised of Tyreke Johnson and Tre Beard of Shawnee State; Oakland City University's Sam Muller; Cory Gardner from Brescia; WVU-Tech's Thomas Hailey; Greg Jenkins from St. Mary-of-the-Woods; Donnie Miller of Midway; IU Kokomo's Noah Harris; and the duo of Jimmy Salamone and Titus Burns of Ohio Christian.
St. Mary-of-the-Woods head coach Jesse McClung was named the RSC Coach of the Year.
McClung is in his first year as Pomeroys head coach after being a top assistant at Marian (Ind.). He has led SMWC to a big turnaound with a 25-5 record, the RSC West Division championship and an NAIA national tournament qualification in his first season.
The RSC also named a Champions of Character Team honoring one member of each team who best displays the NAIA character traits of respect, responsibility, intergrity, servant leadership and sportsmanship.
Rio Grande's honoree was senior Braam Hein (Murrumbateman, Australia).
The RSC Scholar-Athlete Team features those student-athletes who have at least a 3.25 GPA in the sport of men's basketball with at least one year at their current school.
Rio's quartet of honorees was comprised of Hundley, Hein, graduate senior Erwin Gutic (Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina) and senior Lucas Bateman (Melbourne, Australia).
