Blevins, Tadic lead All-RSC honorees for RedStorm

      MIDDLETOWN, Ohio - Four players representing the University of Rio Grande are among those named to the 2022-23 All-River States Conference Men's Basketball Team.
League officials announced first-team, second-team and honorable mention all-conference selections, along with individual award winners on Monday.
      The announcement also included men's basketball Scholar-Athletes and a Champions of Character Team.
      Selections for the All-RSC awards were made by the 13 head coaches in the conference.
      Rio Grande was represented on the First Team by senior forward Shiloah Blevins (South Webster, OH) and junior guard Miki Tadic (Hilversum, The Netherlands), while freshman Kaden Warner (Cincinnati, OH) was a Second Team honoree and freshman Trent Hundley (Mount Orab, OH) was among those named the Honorable Mention list.
      The quartet helped the RedStorm capture the league's regular season championship and earn one of the conference's two berths to the NAIA National Championship tournament.
      Blevins averages a team-best 15.6 points and 6.2 rebounds per game, while Tadic is second of the team at 13.8 points per game while also averaging a team-high 2.9 assists per game.
      Warner averages 13.4 points and 1.5 steals per contest, while Hundley averages 9.4 points per game.
      Point Park University sophomore Jo Valrie headlined the group of First Team honorees.
      Valrie, a 6-5 sophomore guard/forward from Houston, Texas, led the voting to claim the RSC Player of the Year award and, as an incoming transfer, he also captured the RSC Newcomer of the Year honor.
      Valrie averages 19.8 ppg for second in the conference and he averages a league-high 10.1 rpg. He is one of just 12 players in the NAIA averaging a double-double.
      In addition to Blevins, Tadic and Valrie, the First Team also included Point Park guard Jalen Stamps (19.3 ppg); Indiana University Southeast guards Jocobi Hendricks (13.7 ppg) and Anthony Wales Jr. (14.8 ppg); guard Hunter White from Indiana University Kokomo at 15.9 ppg; Midway (Ky.) University guard Donnie Miller, the league's leading scorer at 21.7 ppg; Alice Lloyd (Ky.) College forward Will Philpot, who averaged 12.9 points and 9.8 rebounds per outing; and Indiana University East's Jake Johnson (18.4 ppg, 5.1 rpg).
      Point Park, Rio Grande and IU Southeast led the conference with four selections each across the first, second and honorable mention teams. IU Kokomo and IU East were next with three total selections, while WVU Tech and Ohio Christian University led the second team with two selections each.
      Joining Warner on the second unit was forward Ashton Parker and guard Andrew Work from WVU-Tech; forward Devon Miller and guard Jimmy Salamone from Ohio Christian University; IU East's Colt Meyer; Tay Smith from Brescia University; IU Southeast's Glenn Hill, Jt.; Cyrie Coates of Point Park; and IU Kokomo's Darian Porch.
      Along with Hundley, the honorable mention list included Point Park's Sherron Schifino; Keith Germain from Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College; IU Kokomo's Ty Wills; Javion Johnson of Brescia; IU East's Tobey Billups; and J.J. Reed from IU Southeast.
      IU Southeast head coach Wiley Brown was voted by his peers as RSC Coach of the Year. In his 16th season, Brown has led the Grenadiers to another 20-win season, as well as an appearance in Tuesday night's RSC Championship finals at IU Kokomo.
      IUS (22-8) is the No. 2 seed out of the RSC West Division.
      The RSC Champions of Character Team includes one member of each team nominated by their coach for best displaying the NAIA's five character traits of respect, responsibility, integrity, servant leadership and sportsmanship.
      Rio Grande's representative on the squad was junior Braam Hein (Murrumbateman, Australia).
      The RSC Scholar-Athlete Team includes players with a 3.25 GPA or higher who play the sport of men's basketball and have been at their current school at least two semesters prior to this season.
      Midway had a conference-best seven team members named to the list.
      Rio's scholar-athletes included Blevins, Hein and junior Lucas Bateman (Melbourne, Australia).
