Trio of Rio players named All-RSC

     CHILLICOTHE, Ohio - Three individuals from the University of Rio Grande were among those named to the 2025 All-River States Conference Baseball teams on Thursday night.
     The league unveiled its All-Conference and Gold Glove teams, while also awarding its four major awards for Player, Pitcher, Freshman, and Coach of the Year.
     All of the selections were made via a vote of the league's coaches.
     Redshirt sophomore outfielder Brett Haskins (Evans, WV) and senior second baseman Beiker Fuentes (Crystal Lake, IL) earned All-RSC Second Team honors, while freshman pitcher Conner Gullett (Cincinnati, OH) was an All-RSC Third Team selection.
     Haskins also earned a spot on league's Gold Glove team.
     Haskins hit a team-high .370, while tying for the team lead in doubles (11) and leading the squad with 12 stolen bases.
     Defensively, Haskins recorded 74 putouts to go along with two assists and no errors in 76 total chances.
     Fuentes batted .317 with a team-best six home runs and 37 runs batted in. He also shared the club lead with 11 doubles and topped the squad with 53 hits.
     Fuentes also appeared in five games as a pitcher, posting a 1-1 record and a 1.69 earned run average. In 5-1/3 innings, he allowed three hits and two runs - one earned - with five walks, five strikeouts and a .176 opponent batting average.
     Gullett posted a 3-4 record with a 6.93 ERA in 13 appearances. He allowed 47 hits and 45 runs - 39 earned - over 50-2/3 innings, with 37 walks and 55 strikeouts.
     The regular season champions from Oakland City led the way with 12 All-Conference selections.
     Six Mighty Oaks were named to the first team, which tied IU Southeast for the most players on the top team. The Grenadiers and Midway University tied for second in the league with eight All-Conference selections.
     Shawnee State followed with six, while five players from IU Kokomo were honored.
     The All-Conference teams, consisting of 17 first and second team selections and 15 third team selections, were rounded out by three each from Rio Grande and WVU Tech and two each from Brescia and IU Columbus.
     The award for the conference's top player was given to IU Southeast's Logan Beard. A transfer from the University of Louisville, Beard burst onto the scene in the RSC, hitting .362 with eight home runs and 53 runs batted in.
     The Goshen, Kentucky native reached base in nearly half of his plate appearances with a .487 on-base percentage and logged a .624 slugging percentage.
     Beard also was one of the top defensive infielders in the conference, making just three errors in 173 chances to earn Gold Glove recognition at second base.
     Oakland City's Mick Uebelhor was honored as the 2025 RSC Pitcher of the Year. The sophomore from Huntingburg, Indiana dominated opposing hitters this season, striking out 84 hitters in 61.1 innings and posting a 3.08 earned run average.
     Uebelhor picked up five victories during the 2025 season, and held opposing hitters to a .218 batting average against. Four of his five wins came in conference play, where the sophomore struck out 61 hitters in 42.2 innings.
     The coaches selected IU Southeast's Luca Sandrella as the top freshman in the league. A first team All-RSC selection, he was one of the top arms for the Grenadiers, posting a 6-1 record and a 3.62 ERA across 54.2 innings of work.
     Sandrella struck out 43 hitters and walked just 13, while not allowing more than three earned runs in any of his starts this season. The right-hander logged at least five innings in all but one of his conference starts and exited three of his conference starts with just one earned run allowed.
     As selected by his peers, the 2025 RSC Baseball Coach of the Year award was given to Oakland City's Andy Lasher. Lasher led the Mighty Oaks to their first River States Conference regular season championship since joining the league in 2021.
     The Mighty Oaks went 20-3 in conference play and enter play in Chillicothe with a 36-13 overall record. Lasher is in his fifth season as the leader of the Oakland City program.
     The league also honored the top defensive players at each position as Gold Glove recipients.
     The 2025 River States Conference baseball tournament began Thursday and is scheduled to continue through Sunday afternoon, with the winner of the tournament earning the league's automatic bid to the NAIA Opening Round later in May.
