     OXFORD, Ohio - University of Rio Grande senior Amarissa Kerns has been named the River States Conference Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week.
     Conference officials made the announcement on Monday afternoon.
     Kerns, a native of Lancaster, Ohio, led Rio Grande's contingent at the NAIA Appalachian Challenge in Knoxville, Tenn., completing the 5k course in 17:53 and finishing seventh overall.
     Kerns set a new personal record at the event, helping the 25th-ranked RedStorm to a fourth place showing as a team.
