Rio women finish ninth at Jenna Strong Classic

WILMINGTON, Ohio - The University of Rio Grande women's cross country team placed two runners in the Top 10 and finished ninth overall in the Jenna Strong Cross Country Fall Classic hosted by Wilmington College, Friday afternoon, at the Wilmington Cross Country Course.
Olivia Cisco, a freshman from Waverly, Ohio, finished in seventh place after completing the 5k course in a time of 19:31, while freshman Amarissa Kerns (Lancaster, OH) was ninth after crossing the finish line in 19:43.
Mount Vernon Nazarene's Morgan Forney topped the list of 154 runners by finishing in a time of 18:59.
As a team, Rio Grande posted a score of 228 points and was ninth among the 16 scoring schools.
Thomas More University won the team crown with 49 points, while Wright State University (81 pts.) and Mount Vernon Nazarene (107 pts.) rounded out the top three.
Others who ran for Rio Grande were sophomore Jayden Roach (Baltimore, OH), who placed 57th in a time of 21:44; freshman Kaylor Offenberger (Waterford, OH), who was 97th after crossing in 23:05; and freshman Natalie Brammer (Wheelersburg, OH), who was 130th after finishing in 25:07.
Rio Grande returns to action on Oct. 28 when it hosts the RedStorm Classic.
