Duo represent Rio at Warrior Women's Open

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - Two wrestlers representing the University of Rio Grande were among those who participated in Saturday's Warrior Women's Open hosted by Indiana Tech University.
Annalis Ortez-Pierce and Haley Williams took to the mat for the RedStorm in the Pancake Division of the event at 138 pounds and 110 pounds, respectively.
Ortez-Pierce, a freshman from Portland, Ore., won three of her five matches and took seventh place in her weight division.
The day began with a pin of Adrian's Samantha Bultron at 0:56 and continued with an 8-7 decision over Morgan Sacharczyk from Life University before losing by fall at 1:55 of her quarterfinal round match with Belle Hernandez of Baker University.
Ortez-Pierce also lost by fall to Hiram's Mallory Chunat at 1:18 of their third round consolation match before pinning Brianna Miller of Hastings at 3:47 of their seventh-place match.
Williams, a freshman from Mason, Ohio, posted a 3-1 record and captured a first-place finish in the "A" consolation bracket.
Williams started the day with a first-round bye before losing by technical fall (12-1) to Ashley Courtney from the University of the Cumberlands.
She followed with three consecutive wins in the consolation round, defeating Vienna Martinez from York by technical fall, 10-0, posting an 8-4 decision over Otterbein's Rylee Touhalisky and notching a 10-0 technical fall over Nila Bland of West Liberty.
Rio Grande is scheduled to return to action on Saturday at the Blue Raider Open hosted by Lindsey Wilson College in Columbia, Ky.
Match time is set for 11 a.m. EST.
