RedStorm relay unit breaks long-time school record

BEREA, Ohio - The University of Rio Grande women's 4x400 relay team broke a nearly 50-year-old school record during Friday's action at the Harrison Dillard Twilight, hosted by Baldwin-Wallace University, at George Finnie Stadium.
The quartet - comprised of freshman Kylie Montgomery (Coal Grove, OH), sophomore Laura Hamm (South Point, OH), senior Kendra Grooms (West Union, OH) and senior Jayden Roach (Baltimore, OH) - finished in a time of 3:58.03, becoming the first unit in school history to post a sub-4:00 mark.
The previous school record of 4:01.09 was set in the late 1970's.
The RedStorm also posted three other individual Top 10 showings at the last chance event.
Junior Amarissa Kerns (Lancaster, OH) was sixth in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 17:24.66, while Hamm was eighth in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:16.24 and Montgomery was ninth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 25.78.
