Rio's Grooms, Duncan hit Top 10 twice at WVU

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - Kendra Grooms and Emily Duncan had two Top 10 finishes each to lead the University of Rio Grande women in Saturday's Last Chance Meet hosted by West Virginia University at the Mylan Park Track & Field Complex.
Grooms, a junior from West Union, Ohio, finished third in the 800-meter run after crossing the line in 2:26.71, while placing ninth in the high jump with an effort of 1.55m.
Duncan, a freshman from Chesapeake, Ohio, was sixth in the long jump at 4.63m and 10th in the high jump at 1.50m.
The RedStorm managed four other Top 10 outings at the meet, although none of the eight notables qualified for the upcoming NAIA National Championships.
Sophomore Paris DeBord (Chillicothe, OH) finished sixth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 26.46; junior Jayden Roach (Baltimore, OH) was seventh in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:01.38; sophomore Nalah Kirkendall (Wheelersburg, OH), who was seventh in the hammer throw at 38.07m; and freshman Isabella McVey (Athens, OH), who took ninth place in the 1,500-meter run with a time of 6:03.25.
The RedStorm will have one last chance to qualify when they participate in the Harrison Dillard Twilight, hosted by Baldwin-Wallace University in Berea, Ohio.
