Cremeens has top showing for RedStorm at Cedarville

CEDARVILLE, Ohio - Four athletes representing the University of Rio Grande track and field team recorded Top 10 showings in the women's division of Saturday's Yellow Jacket Collegiate Outdoor Open hosted by Cedarville University.
The quartet helped the RedStorm tie Wilmington College for 10th place in the 14-team field with 11 points.
Wayne State (Mich.) captured the team championship with 206 points. Host Cedarville was second at 141 points, while Bellarmine University was third at 84 points.
Rio's top showing came from freshman Chanee Cremeens (Gallipolis, OH), who finished third in the discus throw with a heave of 39.36m.
Sophomore Amarissa Kerns (Lancaster, OH) finished fifth for the RedStorm in the 5,000-meter run after crossing the finish line in a time of 19:13.13.
Rio's other notable outings came from junior Chianti Marks (Birmingham, England), who was ninth in the triple jump with an effort of 9.92m, and from sophomore Nalah Kirkendall (Wheelersburg, OH), who was 10th in the hammer throw with a heave of 37.40m.
The RedStorm are scheduled to return to action on Friday with a portion of the team heading to the University of Charleston (W.Va.) Invitational and others going to Lee University's Flames Invitational in Cleveland, Tenn.
