RedStorm women participate in Cherry Blossom Invite

ATHENS, Ohio - Jayden Roach gave the University of Rio Grande women's track & field team its only individual top five finish at Saturday's Cherry Blossom Invitational hosted by Ohio University at Goldsberry Track.
Roach, a sophomore from Baltimore, Ohio placed fourth in the 400-meter run with a time of 1:00.17.
The RedStorm also received top five finishes from each of its two relay teams, placing second in the 4x400 with a time of 4:16.80 and fifth in the 4x100 with a mark of 50.25.
The 4x100 unit was comprised of Roach, sophomore Lauren Jolly (Wheelersburg, OH), freshman Chloe Lovett (Washington Court House, OH) and junior Alyssa Dingus (Wheelersburg, OH). The 4x400 squad included freshman Paris DeBord (Chillicothe, OH), Dingus, Lovett and freshman Karlee Renner (Chillicothe, OH).
The meet, which attracted a number of NCAA Division I programs, was not team scored.
Rio Grande had four other top 10 performances in the meet.
Lovett placed seventh in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:09.24 and was ninth in the 100-meter hurdles after crossing in 17.33; sophomore Kendra Grooms (West Union, OH) was seventh in the high jump after an effort of 1.55m; and Dingus was 10th in the 400-meter run with a time of 1:02.94.
Rio Grande returns to action next Friday at the Otterbein Twilight in Westerville, Ohio.
Action is scheduled to get underway at 4 p.m.
