Jolly, Vogt lead Rio women at Cumberlands

WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. - Lauren Jolly and Cassidy Vogt finished sixth and seventh, respectively, in the heptathlon to lead the University of Rio Grande women's track & field team at the Gordon Bocock Invitational & Distance Festival.
The two-day meet, hosted by the University of the Cumberlands, concluded on Saturday.
Jolly, a sophomore from Wheelersburg, Ohio, piled up 3,580 points over the course of the seven events which comprise the competition.
She finished second among the 18 participants in the 200-meter dash with a time of 26.76, placed fourth in the javelin throw with a toss of 28.10m, finished seventh in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 16.55, was eighth in both the shot put (8.64m) and the long jump (4.55m), took ninth in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:50.43 and finished 16th in the high jump with an effort of 1.32m.
Vogt, a sophomore from North Robinson, Ohio accumulated 3,467 points in the competition.
She finished as the runner-up in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 16.07, was third in the shot put (9.19m), took fourth in the long jump (4.96m), was fifth in the 200-meter dash (27.51), finished sixth in the high jump at 1.44m, placed 15th in the 800-meter run (2:59.73) and was 18th in the javelin throw (12.06m).
As a team, Rio finished 12th among 18 competing schools with 10 points.
The University of Findlay won the team competition with 230 points, while Cumberlands (147 pts.) and Campbellsville University (117 pts.) completed the top three.
Rio Grande had four other Top 10 showings in the meet.
Freshman Natalie Brammer (Wheelersburg, OH) took sixth in the 5,000-meter race walk with a time of 34:55.42; freshman Megan Diven (Caledonia, OH), was eighth in both the hammer throw (35.86m) and the shot put (10.49m); and sophomore Jayden Roach (Baltimore, OH), who was ninth in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:02.02.
Rio Grande is scheduled to return to action on Saturday at Ohio University's Cherry Blossom Invitational in Athens, Ohio.
