RedStorm's Roach wins twice at Mt. St. Joseph Invitational

CINCINNATI, Ohio - Jayden Roach recorded two of the University of Rio Grande's three first-place finishes to pace the RedStorm in the women's division of Saturday's College of Mt. St. Joseph Indoor Invitational at the Centennial Fieldhouse & Austin E. Knowlton Fitness Center.
Roach, a sophomore from Baltimore, Ohio, won both the 400-meter dash in a time of 1:01.20 and the 600-meter run in a time of 1:41.19.
Rio also got a first-place finish from sophomore Cassidy Vogt (North Robinson, OH), who won the 60-meter hurdles in a time of 9.76.
The trio of top showings helped the RedStorm finish fifth among the 12 schools participating in the event. Rio tallied 53 points as a team.
Thomas More (Ky.) University won the team championship with 91 points, while Hanover (Ind.) College was second with 68 points. Georgetown (Ky.) College and Lindsey Wilson College (Ky.) tied for the third place with 66 points each.
Rio Grande's remaining scoring efforts came from junior Alyssa Dingus (Wheelersburg, OH), who was third in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:01.77 and fourth in the 200-meter dash at 27.95; sophomore Kendra Grooms (West Union, OH), who tied for the third in the high jump at 4'9"; sophomore Lauren Jolly (Wheelersburg, OH), who finished fourth in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 10.00 and sixth in the long jump at 15'0"; sophomore Allie Cox (Chillicothe, OH), who took fifth place in the 60-meter hurdles after finishing with a time of 10.69; and senior Beth Arnold (Williamstown, WV), who was sixth in the shot put with a toss of 34'3".
Rio Grande returns to action on Saturday in the River States Conference Indoor Championships at Logan High School in Logan, Ohio.
