Vogt, Dingus collects wins for Rio at Otterbein

WESTERVILLE, Ohio - Cassidy Vogt had one first place finish and one second place showing to lead the University of Rio Grande's performance in the women's division of Saturday's Otterbein Invitational, hosted by Otterbein University at the Clements Recreation Center.
The meet, which was not team-scored, included the host Cardinals and Rio Grande, as well as athletes from Baldwin Wallace, Transylvania, Shawnee State, Washington & Jefferson, Ohio Christian and others competing unattached.
Vogt, a sophomore from North Robinson, Ohio won the 60-meter hurdles in a time of 9.71 and took second in the long jump with a leap covering 15-11.75.
Rio also received a first place outing from junior Alyssa Dingus (Wheelersburg, OH) in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:05.56, while the 4x200 relay and 4x400 relay squads both finished second.
The 4x200 - comprised of sophomore Lauren Jolly (Wheelersburg, OH), sophomore Kendra Grooms (West Union, OH), Vogt and Dingus - recorded a school-record time of 1:50.95. The 4x400 team, which includes sophomore Jayden Roach (Baltimore, OH), freshman Chloe Lovett (Washington Court House, OH), Grooms and Dingus posted a time of 4:18.35.
The RedStorm recorded 14 other Top 10 performances during the competition.
The group included Jolly, who was third in the long jump (15-07.75), fourth in the 60-meter dash (8.31); Roach, who was third in the 500-meter run with a time of 1:22.18 and seventh in the 60-meter dash with a time of 8.60; Grooms, who was third in the high jump with a mark of 4-11.00; sophomore Allie Cox (Chillicothe, OH), who was fifth in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 10.91 and sixth in the long jump with a leap of 14-11.50; freshman Amarissa Kerns (Lancaster, OH), who placed fifth in the one-mile run with a time of 5:36.54; freshman Megan Diven (Caledonia, OH), who was sixth in the weight throw with a toss of 36-10.25 and seventh in the shot put with a heave of 33-09.50; senior Beth Arnold (Williamstown, WV), who was sixth in the shot put with a toss of 33-11.25; freshman Paris Debord (Chillicothe, OH), who was eighth in the 60-meter run with a time of 8.74; freshman Karley Kouns (Wheelersburg, OH), who was ninth in the shot put with a toss of 32-09.50; and freshman Nalah Kirkendall (Wheelersburg, OH), who was ninth in the weight throw with a heave of 33-09.25.
Rio Grande returns to action next Saturday at the Steemer Showcase hosted by Wittenberg University.
Action is slated to get underway at 11 a.m.
