Trio of Rio women win at Muskingum

     MUSKINGUM, Ohio - The University of Rio Grande had three individual first-place finishes, while one of its relay teams also took top honors in the women's division of the Muskie Pride Meet hosted by Muskingum University, Saturday afternoon, at the Bullock Health and Wellness Complex.
     Junior Alyssa Dingus (Wheelersburg, OH) won the 400-meter dash in a time of 1:03.52, while sophomore Jayden Roach (Baltimore, OH) finished first in the 600-meter run after crossing in 1:46.55.
     The duo was also part of the RedStorm's 4x400 relay squad which took first place with a time of 4:18.00. The quartet also included sophomore Kendra Grooms (West Union, OH) and freshman Chloe Lovett (Washington Court House, OH).
     Rio also got a top performance from sophomore Cassidy Vogt (North Robinson, OH), who won the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.55.
     As a team, the RedStorm tallied 72 points to finish fifth among the eight participating teams.
     West Liberty University won the team title with 146.5 points, while Denison University was second with 128 points and Wittenberg placed third at 103.5 points.
     Rio Grande's additional scoring showings included Lovett, who took third in the 60-meter hurdles with a mark of 10.28; freshman Olivia Cisco (Waverly, OH), who placed fourth in both the 800-meter run at 2:43.66 and the mile run with a time of 6:03.71; freshman Kaylor Offenberger (Waterford, OH), who was fifth in the 1000-meter run with a time of 3:50.64; freshman Karley Kouns (Wheelersburg, OH), who was fifth in the shot put with a heave of 34-10.25; and sophomore Lauren Jolly (Wheelersburg, OH), who was sixth in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 10.42.
     The RedStorm's 4x200 relay team - comprised of freshman Paris Debord (Chillicothe, OH), Dingus, Jolly and Grooms - finished fifth with a time of 1:53.62.
     Rio Grande returns to action on Saturday at the Otterbein University Invitational in Westerville, Ohio.
     Action is set to get underway at 11 a.m.
