Rio's Cadle hit national qualifying mark

RIO GRANDE, Ohio - Rebecca Cadle and Amarissa Kerns both recorded notable outings for the University of Rio Grande women's indoor track and field team at a pair of a two-day meets over the weekend.
Cadle, a sophomore from Bidwell, Ohio, finished ninth in the pole vault at the YSU Mid-Major Invitational hosted by Youngstown State University in Youngstown, Ohio.
Her mark of 3.62m was a personal-best and also met the "B" qualifying standard for the upcoming NAIA Indoor Track & Field National Championships. The effort currently stands as the 12th-best in the NAIA this season.
Kerns, a senior from Lancaster, Ohio, finished 16th in the 5,000-meter run at the ULPNC Lenny Lyles Indoor Invite in Louisville, Ky.
Kerns posted a time of 17:57.37 in a field full of NCAA Division I athletes.
Rio Grande is scheduled to split its squad again next Saturday, with a portion of the team heading to Ann Arbor, Mich. for the University of Michigan Invitational and others bound for Ashland, Ohio and the Jud Logan Invite at Ashland University.
