Kerns leads RedStorm women at YSU Collegiate

     YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - Amarissa Kerns had two Top 10 finishes to lead the collective efforts of the University of Rio Grande women's indoor track and field team in Friday's YSU Collegiate Invitational, hosted by Youngstown State University at the Watson and Tressel Training Site.
     Kerns, a senior from Lancaster, Ohio, was fifth in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:24.32 and placed sixth in the mile run after crossing in a new personal-best mark of 5:09.62.
     Rio's top finish came from sophomore Kylie Montgomery (Coal Grove, OH), the reigning River States Conference Track Athlete of the Week. She placed third in the 400-meter run with a time of 58.97.
     Also cracking the Top 10 for the RedStorm was sophomore Rebecca Cadle (Bidwell, OH), who was seventh in the pole vault after clearing 3.28m.
     Rio Grande is scheduled to return to action next Saturday at two different events - the Spire Midwest Invitational in Geneva, Ohio and the Notre Dame Blue and Gol Invitational in South Bend, Ind.
