RedStorm women place eight on Scholar-Athlete list

     KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Eight representatives from the University of Rio Grande were among more than 1,500 honorees named to the 2022 Daktronics NAIA Women's Soccer Scholar-Athletes list.
     The 2022 list features 1,557 student-athletes who achieved at least a 3.5 cumulative grade point average (GPA) at their institution.
     Rio Grande's honorees included senior Trinity Hassey (Westerville, OH); juniors Delaney Purtee (Wheelersburg, OH) and Sophie Adams (Manchester, England); and sophomores Allie Cox (Chillicothe, OH), Bree Large (Mount Orab, OH), Charlotte Pilgrim (Middlesbrough, England), Abigail Seals (Chillicothe, OH) and Tegan Suree (Coventry, England).
     In order to be nominated by an institution's head coach or sports information director, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale, must appear on the eligibility certificate for the sport and have attended one full year at said institution.
     Siena Heights (Mich.) led the way with 27 honorees. Grand View (Iowa) finished a close second with 25.
