Rio women 6th at IUK Shootout

     KOKOMO, Ind. - The University of Rio Grande women's golf team posted a sixth place finish in the IUK Spring Shootout hosted by Indiana University Kokomo.
     The two-day event wrapped up Sunday at Wildcat Creek Golf Course.
     The RedStorm finished at 197-over par 765.
     Indiana University East won the team title at 77-over par 645, posting an 18-shot advantage over runner-up Oakland City University. Host IU Kokomo was third at 102-over 670.
     Oakland City's Tanisha Downer carded an 11-over par 153, edging IU East's Maddie Campbell by one stroke.
     Rio Grande's high finish individually came from junior Maddi Meadows (Gallipolis, OH), who tied for 15th place at 30-over par 172.
     Also representing the RedStorm was freshman Lindsey Martin (Lawrenceburg, KY), who tied for 17th place at 31-over 173; sophomore Kimmi Aubrey (Wellston, OH), who was 34th at 61-over par 203; senior Natalie Shriner (Thornville, OH), who finished 38th at 75-over par 217; and freshman Julia Hancock (Martins Ferry, OH), who took 40th place at 87-over par 229.
     Rio Grande is scheduled to return to action April 26-28 at the River States Conference Championship in Daniels, W.Va.
