Rio's Meadows wins title at ALC Invite

     RICHMOND, Ky. - Maddi Meadows took medalist honors and the University of Rio Grande women's golf team opened the spring portion of its schedule by posting a fourth place finish in the Alice Lloyd College Spring Invitational.
     The tournament wrapped up its two-day run on Sunday at the Battlefield Golf Club.
     Meadows, a junior from Gallipolis, Ohio, finished at 6-over par 150 and was seven strokes in front of Shawnee State's Aly Wellman for the top individual score.
     As a team, the RedStorm - who were in second place after Saturday's opening round - finished with a 36-hole team total of 135-over par 711.
     Shawnee State won the team title at 111-over 687, with Indiana University Southeast in second place at 115-over 691 and Rend Lake placing third at 118-over 694.
     Rio Grande also got a fifth-place showing from freshman Lindsey Martin (Lawrenceburg, KY), who carded a 21-over par 165.
     Also representing the RedStorm was senior Natalie Shriner (Thornville, OH), who was 20th at 53-over 197 and sophomore Kimmi Aubrey (Wellston, OH), who placed 21st at 55-over par 199.
     Freshman Julia Hancock (Martins Ferry, OH) was also part of the Rio contingent, but withdrew from the tournament.
     Rio Grande will return to action in the Midway Invitational, March 30-31, in Lexington, Ky.
