Rio women finish 4th in DIII-NAIA Challenge

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - The University of Rio Grande women's golf team posted a fourth place finish in the NCAA DIII-NAIA Midwest Challenge, which wrapped up its two-day run on Monday at the Country Club of Terre Haute.
The event was hosted by Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology.
The RedStorm finished the 36-hole tournament with a score of 159-over par 735.
A trio of fellow River States Conference schools swept the top three positions.
Indiana University East won with a score of 62-over 638, defeating St. Mary-of-the-Woods College by nine shots. Indiana University Kokomo was third at 110-over 686.
IU East's Sophia Curry won the individual title with a 9-over par 153.
Rio Grande's top showing came from junior Maddie Meadows (Gallipolis, OH), who fell out of the Top 10 following Sunday's first round, to finish 14th at 27-over par 171.
Also representing the RedStorm in the 38-player field was freshman Lindsey Martin (Lawrenceburg, KY), who finished 19th at 34-over par 178; freshman Julia Hancock (Martins Ferry, OH), who was 27th at 51-over 195; sophomore Kimmi Aubrey (Wellston, OH), who placed 28th at 52-over 196; and senior Natalie Shriner (Thornville, OH), who tied for 29th at 60-over par 204.
Rio returns to action in the River States Conference Fall Preview, Oct. 6 and 7, at Glade Springs Resort in Daniels, W.Va.
