Rio women open season with 4th place finish

     PRESTONSBURG, Ky. - The University of Rio Grande women's golf team opened the fall portion of their 2025-26 schedule with a fourth place finish following Tuesday's final round of the Maggie Mountain Invitational at Stonecrest Golf Course.
     The RedStorm carded a 183-over par total of 743 for the 36-hole event.
     The University of Northwestern Ohio won the team crown at 78-over par 638, while Georgetown (Ky.) College was second in the six-team field at 120-over par 680 and Indiana University Southeast was third at 132-over 692.
     Ohio Christian University's Tristan Wilson took medalist honors after finish at 12-over par 152.
     Rio's best individual showing came from junior Maddi Meadows (Gallipolis, OH), who placed seventh at 23-over 163.
     Also representing the RedStorm was freshman Lindsey Martin (Lawrenceburg, KY), who was 10th with a 28-over par 168; freshman Julia Hancock (Martins Ferry, OH), who grabbed 18th place at 55-over 195; sophomore Kimmi Aubrey (Wellston, OH), who was 25th at 81-over 221; and senior Natalie Shriner (Thornville, OH), who finished 26th at 94-over par 234.
     Rio Grande is scheduled to return to action at the DIII-NAIA Challenge, Sept. 28-29, in Terre Haute, Ind.
