RedStorm varsity third, reserves runner-up at OBC No. 4

     COLUMBUS, Ohio - The University of Rio Grande varsity women's bowling team finished third, while the RedStorm junior varsity squad took second place in Saturday's Ohio Bowling Conference No. 4 Tournament at the Columbus Square Bowling Palace.
     The tournament was shortened to 28 rounds of baker play due to inclement weather.
     Muskingum University won the varsity division with 5,565 pins, while the University of Northwestern Ohio was the runner-up with 5,170 pins and Rio Grande finished right behind in third at 5,140 pins.
     Along the way, Rio tied its program baker record with a 279 game.
     Rio's varsity roster was comprised of sophomore Brooklyn Sizemore (Bidwell, OH), senior Caity Moody (Xenia, OH), junior Hannah Halstead (Delaware, OH), sophomore Jaelyn Hughes (Indian Lake, OH), sophomore Julie Lemaster (Chillicothe, OH), freshman Lina Fernandez (Mechanicsburg, PA), junior Megan Foltz (South Point, OH) and sophomore Payton Goodman (Cardington, OH).
     Fernandez and Moody were recognized at the close of the tourney as First Team All-Conference honorees, while Fernandez was also named to the All Rookie Team.
     The junior varsity division saw the RedStorm finish with 4,107 pins, while Ohio State University captured the title with 4,349 pins.
     Representing Rio Grande was freshman Addison Jones (Winchester, OH), senior Emillee-Anne Ross (Wellston, OH), senior Kayla Sheets (Columbus, OH), freshman Kendall Harrod (Chillicothe, OH), senior Malerie Stanley (Gallipolis, OH) and freshman Melanie Liming (Georgetown, OH).
     Rio Grande will return to action next weekend at the prestigious Hoosier Classic in Indianapolis.
