RedStorm grapplers ousted from national tourney

WICHITA, Kan. - All three of the wrestlers representing the University of Rio Grande bowed out of action following Friday's opening day of the NAIA Wrestling National Championships at Hartman Arena.
Freshman Westyn Moyer (Urbana, OH) dropped a narrow 6-4 decision to fourth-seeded Wilder Wichman of Thomas More (Ky.) University in his opening match in the 157-pound bracket, before posting a 9-5 win over 14th-seeded Trace Braun of Southeastern (Fla.) University in the consolation round.
Moyer was eliminated from the tourney with a 3-2 loss to 11th-seeded Beau Blackman from Embry-Riddle University in his second consolation round matchup.
In the 165-pound division, freshman Justin Bartee (Point Pleasant, WV) found himself on the short end of a 14-0 majority decision to 12th-seeded Matt Jenkins from Reinhardt (Ga.) University in his opening match.
Bartee then dropped a 7-2 decision to Adam El Damir of Keiser (Fla.) University in the consolation round.
Freshman Bruce Wagers (Cincinnati, OH), who was representing Rio in the 285-pound division, dropped a 9-2 decision to 10th-seeded Earnest Johnson of Keiser (Fla.) University in his opening match before being forced to medically forfeit his scheduled consolation round match with David Toese of Graceland.
