Rio Grande Sports Information
RIO GRANDE, Ohio - It was exactly how Senior Night was supposed to work.
The University of Rio Grande set a new season-high for attack percentage and trailed just once the entire night en route to a 3-0 (25-13, 25-17, 25-20) rout of Midway University, Tuesday night, in Mid-South Conference men's volleyball action at the Newt Oliver Arena.
The RedStorm improved to 12-17 overall and 3-6 in conference play with the win.
Midway finished its regular season at 2-21 overall and 0-10 in the MSC.
The Eagles managed only one more kill (14) than they had attack errors (13) over 66 swings for a .015 percentage.
The only lead the visitors enjoyed came at 10-9 in the second set following a service ace by Daniel Cogo.
Rio Grande finished with 45 kills and just 11 errors in 67 attacks for a sizzling .507 swing percentage.
The RedStorm, who raced to a 7-2 lead in set one before scoring the final five points of the stanza to grab an early match lead, responded to Cogo's go-ahead ace with eight straight winners and never trailed again.
Midway did forge ties at 1-, 2-, 10- and 11-all and remained as close as 16-15 in the third period, but Rio scored seven of the next eight winners to pull away for good.
Senior Caden Donaldson (Jackson, OH), one of two players honored in pre-game ceremonies, tallied a match-high 20 kills.
Junior Seth Mohr (Canton, OH), the other pre-game honoree, had a team-high eight digs and two service aces in the winning effort.

Rio Grande is scheduled to return to action next Tuesday when it hosts nationally-ranked Georgetown (Ky.) College in its regular season finale.
Game time for the match, which was rescheduled from a weather postponement last week, has yet to be announced.
