No. 7 Tigers take down RedStorm

     GEORGETOWN, Ky. - Seventh-ranked Georgetown College pulled away in each of the first two sets and dominated in set three, cruising to a 25-15, 25-18, 25-12 win over the University of Rio Grande, Wednesday night, in Mid-South Conference men's volleyball action at Davis-Reid Alumni Gym.
     The host Tigers improved to 10-3 overall and 3-0 in conference play.
     Rio Grande slipped to 3-8 overall and 1-1 against MSC foes.
     The RedStorm trailed 7-6 in set one before GC reeled off nine of the next 10 winners to blow things open, while a 9-2 run by the Tigers stretched what was a narrow 11-9 advantage.
     Rio trailed just 12-9 in set three after a kill by Griffin Smith, but Georgetown responded with nine conseuctive points to pull away for good and close out the match.
     The Tigers dominated at the net, finishing the match with 37 kills and 13 errors over 65 swings for a .369 attack percentage.
     The hosts were particularly impressive in the final stanza with 14 kills and just two errors in 23 swings for a .522 percentage.
     Rio Grande, on the other hand, had just one set where it finished with more kills than errors and finished the night with 17 kills and 20 errors in 66 attacks for a -.045 swing percentage.
     Sophomore Sam Kaylor (Lewis Center, OH) led the RedStorm with five kills, while freshman Mitch Bartecki (New Lenox, IL) had 15 assists and sophomore Bobby Meifert (Bolingbrook, IL) had eight digs.
     Junior Caden Donaldson (Jackson, OH) had two solo blocks in the loss for Rio.
     Ryan Gunn led Georgetown with eight kills, while Kacper Dobrowolski and LC Newton had 18 and 12 assists, respectively.
     CJ Bride added seven digs for the Tigers, while Tyree Wesley had three solo blocks and two block assists.
     Rio Grande returns to action on Thursday night when it faces Cumberland University in an 8 p.m. EST first serve at the Dallas Floyd Recreation Center.
