Rams complete sweep of Rio men

BLUEFIELD, Va. - Bluefield University rallied late in each of the first two sets and rolled through the final stanza en route to a 3-0 Senior Night win over the University of Rio Grande, Tuesday night, in Mid-South Conference men's volleyball play at the Dome Gymnasium.
The Rams pushed their season record to 13-16 overall and 6-9 in league play, while completing a season sweep of the RedStorm in the process, with a 26-24, 25-21, 25-14 victory.
Rio Grande dropped to 2-24 overall and 1-16 in the MSC with the loss.

Set one was tied at 24-all before the hosts turned a kill and a Rio attack error into an early match lead, while a 7-0 run by the Rams erased an 11-8 RedStorm lead in set two.
Bluefield never trailed in set three, but led just 16-12 late in the period before closing out the match with nine of the final 11 winners.
David Adkins led the Rams with eight kills, while Caleb Word finished with 17 assists and four service aces.
Fernand Morales added 10 digs in the win and Alvaro Grande had five block assists in the victory.
BU rolled up a .333 attack percentage for the match, with 35 kills and 13 errors in 66 swings.
Rio Grande had 27 kills and 17 errors in 65 attacks (.154).
Freshman Sam Kaylor (Lewis Center, OH) had a match-best nine kills in the loss, while fellow frosh Seth Mohr (Canton, OH) and Tyler Miller-Bross (Loveland, OH) had 23 assists and five digs, respectively.
Freshman Cam Griffith (Columbus, OH) also had a solo block and three block assists for the RedStorm.
Rio Grande closes out its regular schedule on Thursday night at Cumberland (Tenn.) University.
