Tigers cruise past Rio men

RIO GRANDE, Ohio - Georgetown College hammered out a .400 attack percentage and the Tigers rolled to a 3-0 (25-15, 25-18, 25-17) win over the University of Rio Grande, Saturday afternoon, in Mid-South Conference men's volleyball action at the Newt Oliver Arena.
The 13th-ranked Tigers improved to 9-5 overall and 5-1 in the MSC with the victory.
Rio Grande dropped to 0-11 overall and 0-8 in league play.
The RedStorm faced big deficits out of the gate in each of the first two sets, trailing 16-5 in the first stanza and 13-5 in the second.
The third period was much closer with Rio finding itself within two points as late as 17-15.
However, the visitors finished off the match win by scoring eight of the final 10 winners.
Georgetown finished with 35 kills and 11 errors in 60 swings, including 13 kills and one error in 21 third set attacks (.571).
Sean Bohler led the Tigers with 12 kills, while Kacper Dobrowolski and LC Newton added 19 and 11 assists, respectively.
CJ Bride had eight digs and three service aces in the winning effort. Krzysztof Kowalski also had three aces for GC, while Tyree Wesley had one solo block and three block assists.
Freshman Sam Kaylor (Lewis Center, OH) led Rio Grande with eight kills, while fellow frosh Seth Mohr (Canton, OH) had 15 assists and freshman Juan Carlos Polanco (Columbus, OH) tallied five digs.
Freshman Cam Griffith (Columbus, OH) added three block assists in a losing cause for the RedStorm, who finished with a .062 attack percentage (22 kills, 18 errors, 65 attacks).
Rio Grande returns to action on Tuesday night when it travels to Pittsburgh, Pa. to face Carlow University.
