BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Travis Hunt recorded two of the five Top 10 showings by the University of Rio Grande men's track & field team at Saturday's Billy Hayes Invitational hosted by Indiana University.
Hunt, a junior from New Paris, Ohio, finished third in the javelin throw with an effort of 159'6" - nine feet further than his previous personal record - and was seventh in the triple jump at 44'6-1/4".
Junior Mason Dishong had the best finish of the day for the RedStorm, placing second in the javeline throw with a heave covering 166'2".
Junior Kyle Lightner (Peebles, OH) finished fifth in the javelin with a throw of 147'10", while junior Eric Weber (Bidwell, OH) was 10th in the hammer throw with a toss of 160'0".
Unfortunately, all five of the marks failed to meet the qualifying standards for the upcoming NAIA Track & Field National Championships later this month.
A portion of the RedStorm's roster is expected to make a final qualifying try at the Harrison Dillard Twilight hosted by Baldwin-Wallace University, Thursday and Friday, in Berea, Ohio.
