RedStorm men open outdoor season at High Point

HIGH POINT, N.C. - Skylar Gries had the top finish of the weekend for the University of Rio Grande men's track & field team as the RedStorm opened their outdoor schedule at the Webb/Davidson Invitational hosted by High Point University.
Gries, a sophomore from Williamsburg, Ohio, placed fourth in the Group B portion of the pole vault competition by clearing 14'4".
The RedStorm had one other Top 10 finish in the non-team scored meet with freshman Tyler Jenkins (Barnesville, OH) taking seventh place in the 1,500-meter run with a time of 4:03.55.
Rio had eight other Top 15 performances.
The list included sophomore Marshall Jackson (Bellefontaine, OH), who was 10th in the shot put with a toss of 46-10.25 and 15th in the discus with a heave of 129-0; junior Kyle Lightner (Peebles, OH), who was 10th in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:59.71; junior Haden Karshner (Circleville, OH), who was 11th in the discus with an effort of 129-0; junior Eric Weber (Bidwell, OH), who was 12th in the hammer throw with a toss of 161-11 and 13th in the discus with a toss of 126-9; Huntyr Butler, who placed 12th in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 15.93; and junior Travis Hunt (New Paris, OH), who was 14th in the long jump with a leap of 20-3.50.
