Rio's Hunt gets win at Tiffin Invite

TIFFIN, Ohio - Travis Hunt picked up a win and Mugisha Pomossene posted a runner-up finish to lead the University of Rio Grande men's track and field team at Friday's
Tiffin University Open at the Heminger Center.
Hunt, a junior from New Paris, Ohio, took top honors in the triple jump with a leap covering 12.96m.
Pomossene, a freshman from Cincinnati, Ohio, was the runner-up in the 1-mile run with a time of 4:49.00.
Other top 10 performances by RedStorm representatives included sophomore Skylar Gries (Williamsburg, OH), who finished fourth in the pole vault after clearing 4.40m; junior Kyle Lightner (Peebles, OH), who placed sixth in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:02.89; freshman Daunevyn Woodson (Gallipolis, OH), who was eighth in the long jump with a leap of 6.26m; sophomore Danuel Persinger (Bidwell, OH), who was eighth in the 800-meter run after crossing in 2:06.45; and sophomore Andrew Skaggs (Minford, OH), who finished 10th in the long jump at 6.21m.
The meet was not team scored.
Freshman Tyler Jenkins (Barnesville, OH) also represented Rio in Grand Valley State University's Invitational on Friday and finished 11th in the 3,000-meter run with a time of 8:47 - the fourth-best all-time mark in program history.
Rio Grande returns to action at Muskingum University on Jan. 14.
