Rio men get record-setting finish from Houston

     YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - Trevon Houston set a new school record to highlight the performance of the University of Rio Grande men's indoor track and field team in Friday's YSU Collegiate Invitational, hosted by Youngstown State University at the Watson and Tressel Training Site.
     Houston, a senior from Cleveland, Ohio, posted a runner-up finish in the 500-meter run with a time of 1:06.62. His mark erased the previous school record of 1:07.44, which had stood for 31 years.
     Rio Grande had six other Top 10 showings in the meet, which was not team scored.
     The list of notable outings for the RedStorm included freshman Noah Sileshi (Germany), who placed fourth in the 400-meter run with a time of 49.47; sophomore Keegan McKinney (Baltimore, OH), who was fifth in the shot put with a toss of 51-00.75; junior Jayden Dunlap (Gallipolis, OH), who finished sixth in the 500-meter run with a time of 1:12.85; junior Rowen Gerlach (New Haven, WV), who was sixth in the weight throw with a heave of 49-00.75; sophomore Ryder Crawford (Owensville, OH), who grabbed seventh place in the one-mile run with a time of 4:20.02; sophomore Logen Justice (Lancaster, OH), who was seventh in the high jump with an effort of 6-02.75; and junior Ashton Beverly (Chillicothe, OH), who was ninth in the mile run after crossing the line in 4:21.67.
     Rio Grande is scheduled to return to action next Saturday at two different events - the Spire Midwest Invitational in Geneva, Ohio and the Notre Dame Blue and Gol Invitational in South Bend, Ind.
