RedStorm quartet tabbed Scholar-Athletes

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Four members of the University of Rio Grande men's soccer team were among the 423 student-athletes named 2016 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes by the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA).
Seniors Heitor de Melo (Sao Paulo, Brazil), Jeremy de Hoog (Rotterdam, The Netherlands) and Pau Delgado Rodriguez (Barcelona, Spain) represented the RedStorm on the list, as did junior Jorge Guinovart (Barcelona, Spain).
In order to be nominated by an institution's head coach or sports information director, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved a junior academic status.
Delgado Rodriguez, a midfielder, is a Business/Marketing major, while de Melo, a defender, is major in Marketing with a minor in Photography.
Guinovart, a midfielder, is a Business Management/Marketing major who is minoring in Environmental Science, while de Hoog, a defender, is a Business Management major.
Florida Memorial landed the most individuals on the list with 15.
