Rio men stay No. 3 in NAIA poll

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — After a week which produced road wins over Cincinnati Christian and Asbury University, the University of Rio Grande remained No. 3 in the latest NAIA Men's Soccer Coaches' Top 25 poll.
The national office made the announcement Tuesday evening.
The RedStorm received 495 points in the balloting of a panel of head coaches representing each of the conferences, Association of Independent Institutions and Unaffiliated Groups.
Rio Grande (16-1-1) now finds itself without a game until the semifinal round of the River States Conference Tournament on Nov. 9 against the survivor of the quarterfinal round tilt between Asbury and Brescia University.

Oklahoma Wesleyan stayed the top-ranked for the seventh straight week after receiving 18 of 19 first-place votes and 529 total points.
Hastings (Neb.) earned the other first-placed nod and remained in the No. 2 spot, while Davenport (Mich.) and the University of Northwestern Ohio each remained behind the RedStorm for the second straight week to round out the top five.
Four schools dropped out of the Top 25 this week - Hope International (Calif.), Central Methodist (Mo.), Tennessee Wesleyan and Madonna (Mich.) - with No. 22 Westmont (Calif.), No. 23 Benedictine (Kan.), No. 24 Georgia Gwinnett and No. 25 Menlo (Calif.) earning their way onto the list.
No. 20 Olivet Nazarene (Ill.) leaps up four positions for the best improvement within the poll this week, while No. 15 Thomas (Ga.) fell the farthest, dropping four spots.
Sixteen of the 19 conferences are represented this week. The Heart of America Athletic Conference has three teams into the Top 25, the most of any conference.
Overall, eight leagues - including the River States Conference - have multiple teams into the Top 25.
WVU-Tech is the RSC's other ranked team. The Golden Bears moved up two positions to No. 10 this week.
