Rio reserves open season at ALC

     PRESTONSBURG, Ky. - The University of Rio Grande men's reserve golf team opened its 2025-26 fall schedule with a 10th place finish following Tuesday's final round of the Maggie Mountain Invitational at Stonecrest Golf Course.
     The RedStorm carded a 92-over par total of 652 for the two-day, 36-hole event.
     The University of Pikeville (Ky.) "B" entry finished atop the 15-team field at 22-over par 582, with Indiana University Southeast and West Virginia University tying for second at 29-over par 589.
     There was also a tie at the top individually, with Pikeville "B" teammates Jon Bryant and Kaeden Anderson both carding a 1-over par 141.
     Rio's top individual performances came from junior Connor Ingels (New Haven, WV) and freshman Valerio De Angelis (Rome, Italy), both of whom were part of a four-way tie for 45th place in the field of 81 golfers at 19-over 159.
     Among the other representing Rio Grande was sophomore Keltin Robinson (Peebles, OH), who was 53rd at 23-over 163; freshman Hayden Reynolds (Vinton, OH), who tied for 63rd place at 31-over 171; and freshman Deo Alvarez (Veracruz, Mexico), who tied for 68th at 33-over par 173.
     Rio Grande's varsity squad resumes play at the Milligan Invitational in Johnson City, Tenn., Sept. 22-23.
     The RedStorm reserve corps will next play in Shawnee State University's Roger Merb Invitational on Tuesday, Sept. 23, in McDermott, Ohio.
