RedStorm finish 3rd, 11th at ALC Invite

     DANVILLE, Ky. - The University of Rio Grande varsity men's golf team finished third, while the RedStorm junior varsity posted an 11th place finish in the Alice Lloyd College Last Shot Tournament, which finished its two-day run on Sunday at the Old Bridge Golf Club.
     Rio's "A" entry finished at 14-over par 590, while the "B" entry was 11th at 97-over par 673.
     Walters State Community College won the team title at 9-under par 567, while Truett McConnell edged the RedStorm "A" team for second place in the 14-team tourney at 13-over 589.
     Bowen Brantley of Walters State won medalist honors as an individual, carding a 5-under par 139.
     Rio Grande's "A" entry was led by senior Nicolas Gonzalez (Medellin, Colombia), who finished third at 2-under par 142, and junior Rodrigo Portilla (Sevilla, Spain), who was one of three players tied for fifth place at even-par 144.
     The top individual performance for the RedStorm's "B" team came from sophomore Connor Ingels (New Haven, WV), who was one of four players tied for 33rd place at 11-over par 155.
     Other members of the Rio "A" unit were sophomore Juan Carlos Gil Perez (Malaga, Spain), who tied for 26th place at 7-over par 151; freshman Ryan Laudermilt (Racine, OH), who was 28th at 9-over 153; and freshman Keltin Robinson (Peebles, OH), who tied for 55th place in the field of 83 golfers at 23-over 167.
     The "B" team also included junior Tanner Lisle (Racine, OH), who was among four players tied for 48th place at 19-over par 163; senior Eli Adkins (Stout, OH), who tied for 62nd place after carding a 29-over par 173; sophomore Jose Luis Mendez Varela (La Coruna, Spain), who was 69th at 38-over 182; and junior Lance Stewart (Racine, OH), who placed 81st at 66-over 210.
     Rio Grande golfers competing as individuals were senior Zach Adkins (Albany, OH) and freshman Conner Roe (Gallipolis, OH).
     Roe finished in a tie for 38th place at 13-over par 157, while Adkins tied for 67th place at 34-over 178.
     The RedStorm reserve squad returns to action Monday and Tuesday at the Ohio Christian Spring Invitational.
