RedStorm finishes sixth at IUK Invite

KOKOMO, Ind. - The University of Rio Grande men's golf "B" team posted a sixth-place finish in Saturday's Indiana University Kokomo Spring Invitational at Wildcat Creek Golf Course.
The RedStorm posted a team total of 59-over par 347 and finished 15 shots behind Indiana Tech and the host Cougars, both of whom tied for first at 44-over 332.
Huntington University was third in the seven-team event at 45-over par 333.
Butler University's Kenny Leseur took medalist honors individually, carding an even-par 72.
Rio Grande's top outing was recorded by freshman Matys Rigal (Talence, France), who was part of five-way tie for fifth place at 9-over 81.
Also representing the RedStorm was senior Ethan Mercer (Jackson, OH), who was among three players tied for 18th place at 12-over par 84; freshman Jacob Smeeks (Belpre, OH), who was one of four players tied for 28th place with a 15-over par total of 87; freshman John Tanner Lisle (Racine, OH), who finished 39th at 23-over 95; and sophomore Eli Adkins (Stout, OH), who was 41st in the 43-player field at 27-over 99.
Rio Grande is scheduled to return to action Monday and Tuesday as part of the Midway Eagle Invitational at the University Club in Lexington, Ky.
