Rio men conclude season at Hoosier Classic

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The University of Rio Grande men's bowling team posted a 63rd place finish among the 78 teams participating in the Columbia 300 Hoosier Classic, which wrapped up its two-day run on Sunday at Royal Pin Western.
The RedStorm took down 7,184 total pins - 4,720 in five rounds of team play and another 2,464 in 15 baker games.
Webber International (Fla.) captured the team championship with 8,709 pins, while Mount Mercy University was the runner-up (8,584) and Wichita State University placed third (8,555).
Top honors among the 530 individuals went to Keegan Alexander of Mount Mercy, who took down 1,193 pins - 10 more than his teammate, Zach Andresen.
Rio Grande's top individual showing came from sophomore Dominic Catanese (North Royalton, OH), who finished 134th with 974 pins over five rounds. He also had the RedStorm's best single-game showing with a 250 in game one.
Also representing Rio was senior Hunter Bolender (Mt. Orab, OH), who was 177th with 923 pins in five games; sophomore Gage Hamm (Rushsylvania, OH), who was 294th with 731 pins in four games; sophomore Jacob Lemaster (Chillicothe, OH), who was 296th with 724 pins in four games; freshman Chase McMillen (Leiston, OH), who was 501st after rolling a 163 in his lone game; and freshman Justin Lowery (Chillicothe, OH), who placed 514th after tallying a 148 in his only round.
