Rio's Catanese earns All-Tournament nod at OBC No. 2

     COLUMBUS, Ohio - Dominic Catanese earned a spot on the All-Tournament team and helped the University of Rio Grande men's bowling team to an 11th place finish in the Ohio Bowling Conference No. 2 Tournament, Saturday, at the Columbus Square Bowling Palace.
     Catanese, a sophomore from North Royalton, Ohio, toppled 940 pins over four games for an average of 235, while also rolling Rio's single-game high score of 256 in round three.
     As a team, the RedStorm took down 5,343 pins over eight rounds of baker play and four rounds of team play.
     Ohio State University topped the field of 17 teams with 6,010 pins, while Muskingum University finished as the runner-up (5,920) and Wright State University (5,860) was third.
     Isaiah Shannon of Wright State had the top individual showing in the field of 185 bowlers with 1,046 pins in four games for a 261.5 average.
     Also representing Rio Grande was sophomore Jacob Lemaster (Chillicothe, OH), who finished 66th with 756 pins over four rounds; sophomore Gage Hamm (Rushsylvania, OH), who placed 87th with 704 pins in four games; junior Shawn Woodyard (Jackson, OH), who was 90th with 685 pins over four games; and freshman Justin Lowery (Chillicothe, OH), who was 91st with 682 pins in four rounds.
     Rio Grande was also one of 14 schools with an entry in the tourney's junior varsity bracket and finished 13th with 3,451 pins.
     Wright State won the JV team title with 5,619 pins, edging Muskingum University for the top spot by seven pins. Robert Morris University (5,536) finished third.
     Wright State's Austin Gade had the top individual mark for junior varsity participants, placing sixth overall with 924 pins in four rounds for a 231 average.
     Rio's top JV score belonged to freshman Chase McMillen (Lewiston, OH), who was 95th with 667 pins in four games for a 166.8 average.
     Also rolling for the RedStorm was freshman Jakhai Agnew (Columbus, OH), who was 98th with 654 pins in four games; freshman Sailor Cope (Chillicothe, OH), who placed 108th with 620 pins in four games; and freshman Brian Laughman (Piqua, OH), who was 121st with 568 pins in four rounds.
     Agnew's 198 in game three was the team's top single-game showing.
     Rio Grande is scheduled to return to action Nov. 1 and 2 at the Brunswick Southern in Marietta, Ga.
