RedStorm men finish 13th in Western Shootout

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The University of Rio Grande men's bowling team posted a 13th place finish in the Columbia 300 Western Shootout, which concluded its two-day run at the Royal Pin Western Lanes.
The RedStorm finished with 9,236 pins and moved up six positions over the final day of competition, which was comprised of six rounds of team play and 16 rounds of baker action.
Trine University won the team crown with 10,215 pins, while Davenport University (9,896 pins) and Purdue University (9,886 pins) rounded out the top three.
The individual championship went to Purdue's Gabe Castro, who finished with 1,513 pins over six rounds for an average of 252.2.
Rio Grande's top individual outing in the field of 339 bowlers belonged to sophomore Dominic Catanese (North Royalton, OH), who was 19th with 1,327 pins in six rounds for a 221.2 average. He also had the team's single-game high with a 259 in round two.
Also representing the RedStorm was junior Shawn Woodyard (Jackson, OH), who was 56th with 1,254 pins in six rounds; sophomore Jacob Lemaster (Chillicothe, OH), who placed 122nd with 1,110 pins over six games; sophomore Gage Hamm (Rushsylvania, OH), who was 165th with 952 pins in five games; freshman Justin Lowery (Chillicothe, OH), who finished 170th with 931 pins in five rounds; and freshman Jakhai Agnew (Columbus, OH), who was 294th with 354 pins in two games.
Rio Grande is scheduled to return to action on Saturday at the Ohio Bowling Conference Tournament No. 2 in Columbus, Ohio.
