Gross finishes 8th for RedStorm at Keystone Classic

ALLENTOWN, Pa. - Daniel Gross posted a Top 10 finish individually and the University of Rio Grande men did the same as a team in the 2023 Roto Grip Keystone Classic, which finished its two-day run on Tuesday at the Haja Rose Bowl.
Gross, a senior from Cincinnati, Ohio, toppled 1,088 pins over five games for a 217.6 average and an eighth-place finish among the 206 competitors.
Gross also had Rio's single-game high with a 256 in his third round.
Rio Grande placed ninth among the 29 schools in the team competition with 8,704 pins.
The University of Northwestern Ohio took the championship with 9,365 pins, while William Paterson University (9,360) finished a closed second. Lawrence Tech University was third with 9,292 pins.
William Paterson's Jason Wichnovitz won the individual crown with 1,191 pins over five games for a 238.2 average.
The tournament consisted of five rounds of team play and 20 baker games.
Also representing the RedStorm in the event was senior Jalin Ragland (Columbus, OH), who finished 34th with 988 pins in five games; senior Reece Collins (Columbus, OH), who was 49th with 923 pins over five rounds; freshman Dominic Catanese (North Royalton, OH), who was 77th after taking down 852 pins in four rounds; sophomore Shawn Woodyard (Jackson, OH), who placed 168th with 337 pins over two games; freshman Gage Hamm (Rushsylvania, OH), who was 174th with 328 pins in two rounds; freshman Jacob Lemaster (Chillicothe, OH), who was 189th after rolling a 199 in his only game; and sophomore Alex Coffelt (Canton, OH), who was 203rd with a 143 in his only game.
The RedStorm will remain in Allentown on Wednesday and Thursday to participate in the Lehigh Valley Classic.
