Collins heads RedStorm efforts at Southern Collegiate Classic

     MARIETTA, Ga. - The University of Rio Grande men's bowling team posted a 19th place finish in the Bowlero Southern Collegiate Classic, which wrapped up its two-day run on Sunday at Bowlero Marietta.
     The RedStorm were sitting in 13th place among the 29 participating schools after Saturday's six rounds of team play, but tumbled six spots after the conclusion of Sunday's 20 rounds of baker play.
     Rio Grande finished with 9,120 pins toppled in the competition.
     The University of Pikeville captured the team title with 10,597 pins, edging SCAD-Savannah (10,464) for the top spot. Webber International (Fla.) was third with 10,388 pins.
     Individually, Tristin Davis of Emmanuel University took medalist honors with 1,410 pins over six games for an average of 235.0.
     Rio's top individual individual performance came from senior Reece Collins (Columbus, OH), who finished in 24th place among the 241 participants with 1,220 pins over six games for an average of 203.3. Collins also had the best single-game outing for the RedStorm with a 245 in his final round.
     Also representing Rio Grande in the event was senior Daniel Gross (Cincinnati, OH), who finished 27th with 1,216 pins over six games for a 202.7 average; sophomore Shawn Woodyard (Jackson, OH), who was 74th with 1,085 pins over six rounds for a 180.8 average; senior Jalin Ragland (Columbus, OH), who grabbed 98th place with 974 pins over five games for a 194.8 average; sophomore Alex Coffelt (Canton, OH), who was 140th with 807 pins over five games for a 161.4 average; freshman Jacob Lemaster (Chillicothe, OH), who was 226th with a 184 in his lone game; and junior Hunter Bolender (Mount Orab, OH), who rolled a 157 in his only round for 235th place.
     Rio Grande returns to action on Saturday and Sunday as part of the Raider Classic in Dayton, Ohio.
