Ragland helps Rio to 7th place finish

COLUMBUS, Ohio - The University of Rio Grande men's bowling team knocked down 6,726 pins en route to a seventh-place finish in the AHBA No. 5 Tournament.
The RedStorm finished in the upper half of the 17-team field, totaling 90 more dropped pins than St. Vincent College, which placed eighth.
Madonna (Mich.) University won the team title with 7,363 pins. Bowling Green (7,168) and Wright State (7,122) rounded out the top three in the event, which included baker games and four rounds of individual play.

Individually, sophomore Jalin Ragland (Columbus, OH) had the top showing for Rio with 810 pins over four games for an average of 202.5. He also had the squad's high game performance, rolling a 239 in game one.
Also representing the RedStorm in the 95-bowler field was sophomore Daniel Gross (Cincinnati, OH), who was 28th with 778 pins in four games for an average of 194.5; freshman Hunter Bolender (Mt. Orab, OH), who finished in 37th place with 739 pins in four games for a 184.75 average; senior Chris Somerville (Gallipolis, OH), who placed 41st with 726 pins in four games for a 181.5 average; and junior Reece Collins (Columbus, OH), who was 42nd with 718 pins in four games for an average of 179.5.
Bowling Green's Michael Tatarowicz won the individual crown with 985 pins in four games for an average of 246.25.
Rio Grande is set to return to action next weekend at the Muskie Mash in Coshocton, Ohio.
