Rio Grande Sports Information
FLORENCE, Ala. - The University of Rio Grande Bass Fishing team completed its second stop of the 2025 season over the weekend with the weather-shortened ACA Pickwick Slam on Pickwick Lake.
RedStorm anglers were able to find a few key bites in practice but, unfortunately, were not able to locate the areas that were holding the numbers of keeper fish needed for the event.
All four teams were able to walk the stage for the event, though, with the team of senior Cody Brumfield (Gallipolis, OH) and sophomore Zackery Burroughs (St. Paris, OH) leading the way in the field of more than 270 boats by finishing the event with three keepers for 6.73 lbs. and 161st place.
Finishing in 172nd place with 5.84 lbs. was the tandem of senior Austin Shields (Albany, OH) and freshman Tyler Eggers (Jackson, OH), while freshman Cameron Burgess (Oxford, OH) and junior Alexander McCarty (Bloomingburg, OH) finished the event in 197th place and the duo of freshman Noah Cremeens (Gallipolis, OH) and freshman Coen Davis (Jackson, OH) finished 205th.
Rio Grande is scheduled to return to action May 22-23 at the ACA National Championship on Lake Hartwell in Anderson, S.C.
