Rio archers win Vegas Shoot

LAS VEGAS, Nev. - The University of Rio Grande archery team recently won the Collegiate Team Championship at the prestigious 2026 The Vegas Shoot.
The Vegas Shoot, which is the largest indoor archery event in the world and is often referred to as the Super Bowl of Archery, took place March 26-29.
"Indoor Nationals exposed some weak points for us and this team responded and addressed them," said Rio Grande head coach Jonathan Clemins. "This tournament was self-funded this year since we decided to invest in the best targets for our outdoor field, building on the vision and the future of this program as a high-performance training center. What stands out is that these archers still chose to show up, invest in themselves and represent Rio on the biggest indoor stage. That's the kind of culture and commitment this team brings to all they do. I'm proud of them."
Rio Grande scored a trio of first-place finishes with freshman Adam Curran (Paris, KY) taking top honors in Men's Fixed Pins, junior Danielle Pollard (West Pittston, PA) doing the same in Women's Fixed Pins and junior Bronson Ormes (Bellevue, KY) earning the top spot in Men's Barebow.
Other Top 15 performances recorded by the RedStorm included senior Alicia Aviles (Tamarac, FL), who was the runner-up in Women's Fixed Pins; sophomore Tanner Boyd (Lebanon, OH), who was second in Men's Olympic Recurve; freshman Braxton Stricklin (Hurricane, WV), who was second in Men's Barebow; sophomore Colton Green (Bloomfield, NM) and junior Braden Reed (Grayson, KY), who finished third and fifth, respectively, in Men's Compound; graduate senior Daniel Clayton (Erwin, NC), who took eighth place in Men's Olympic Recurve; junior Parker Braddock (Starkville, MS), who was ninth in Men's Compound; senior Alyssa Nelson (Draper, UT), who placed 13th in Women's Olympic Recurve; and senior Zoe Woods (McHenry, IL), who was 14th in Women's Compound.
Rio Grande returns to action April 17-19 at the Gator Cup in Newberry, Fla.
