    BIDWELL, Ohio – University of Rio Grande track & field head coach Bob Willey has announced the signing of River Valley High School's Justin Mabe for the 2013-14 school year.
    Mabe, a 6-foot-3, 185-pound sprinter/jumper for coach Jacob Attar's Raiders, has competed in the 110-meter and 300-meter hurdles, as well as the high jump this season. As a junior, his event list also included the 400-meter dash, along with the 4x100, 4x200 and 4x400 relays and the 4x55 shuttle hurdles.

    McCONNELSVILLE, Ohio – University of Rio Grande track & field head coach Bob Willey has announced the signing of Morgan High School duo Derek Dingey and Clinton Campbell for the 2013-14 school year.
    Dingey, a 6-foot-0, 250-pound thrower, and Campbell, a 5-foot-10, 150-pound sprinter/hurdler, are both key members of head coach John Robbins squad.
    Dingey qualified for the Ohio state championship meet last year in discus and was a regional qualifier in the shot put, while Campbell reached the state meet in the 300 hurdles.

    WASHINGTON COURT HOUSE, Ohio – University of Rio Grande track & field head coach Bob Willey has announced the signing of Washington Court House High School's Antonio Roan for the 2013-14 school year.
    The 5-foot-11, 165-pound Roan is a sprinter/long jumper for coach Quentin Cox's Blue Lions. He was a first team All-South Central Ohio League selection as part of the school's 4x200 meter relay team and a second team all-conference pick in the 4x100 relay.

    LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Eight student-athletes representing the University of Rio Grande's track & field program were among those who received Academic All-Mid-South Conference honors from the league, prior to last weekend's championship meet on the campus of the University of the Cumberlands.
    In order to be nominated by an institution, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.25 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved at least sophomore academic status.

    WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. – Kim Strunk had one first-place finish and two runner-up showings, while Mary Schramm also had a first-place finish and Kaleb Kimber tallied a pair of second-place performances to lead the University of Rio Grande's track & field teams at the Mid-South Conference Championship, which took place Friday and Saturday on the campus of the University of the Cumberlands.
    Strunk, a senior from Milford, Ohio, won the women's Hammer Throw with a heave of 135-02, while also taking second place in both the Shot Put at 37-10.75 and Discus Throw at 108-07.
    Schramm, a junior from Marietta, Ohio, took the title in the Javelin Throw with a toss of 99-11. She also placed third in the Hammer Throw (126-04), fifth in the Discus Throw (101-06) and sixth in the Shot Put (32-05.00).
    Kimber, a senior from Salisbury, N.C. in his first season with the Rio track team, took second in both the men's High Jump at 6-01.50 and Long Jump at 21-08.75.

    ATHENS, Ohio – Shardai Morrison-Fountain and Austin Wilson provided the University of Rio Grande track & field teams with their only individual top 10 showings at the All-Ohio Track & Field Championships, Friday and Saturday, at Ohio University.
    The event featured nearly every college and university in the Buckeye State, from NCAA Division I programs to NAIA schools such as Rio.
    Morrison-Fountain, a sophomore from Columbus, Ohio, took ninth place in the women's long jump with a leap of 5.39m, while Wilson – a freshman from Gallipolis, Ohio – was 10th in the men's 100m dash by finishing in a time of 11.48.
