LOUISVILLE, Ky. --- University of Rio Grande sophomore goalkeeper Jonathan Viscosi is the Mid-South Conference Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week for the week ending Aug. 28, the conference announced on Monday.

Rio Grande --- The University of Rio Grande RedStorm men's soccer team, ranked No. 4 in the NAIA preseason Top 25 poll, scored three goals in the final 20 minutes of the game to put away Spring Arbor University by a score of 4-0 on Saturday night at Evan Davis Field in the final game of the D. Wayne Evans Classic.

Rio Grande --- The University of Rio Grande RedStorm men's soccer team, ranked No. 4 in the NAIA preseason Top 25 rating, rolled to a 7-0 shutout victory on Friday night over Grace College in the first day of action at the D. Wayne Evans Classic held at Evan Davis Field.

Rio Grande --- The fourth-ranked University of Rio Grande RedStorm men's soccer team shook off a somewhat lackluster first half to gain a 2-0 victory over visiting Houghton College in the lid lifter to the 2010 season on Wednesday evening at Evan Davis Field.

Rio Grande --- The University of Rio Grande RedStorm men's soccer team has advanced just about as far as a team can advance without winning the title in each of the last two seasons. Two years ago, Rio Grande played for the national championship for the second time in school history and lost in the opening moments of overtime. Last season, Rio Grande was ousted in the national semifinal on penalty kicks. Expectations for 2010 are as high as they have ever been and Rio Grande may be equipped better than they ever have to win a championship. It's just a matter now of seeing how it all plays out on the pitch.
